Sherbet Punch Recipe

Image of Drinks
A sherbet punch recipe made with lime or orange sherbet, lemonade, pineapple juice, and 7-Up. A delicious non-alcoholic punch recipe that can be served for a Christmas brunch or holiday party.

This punch would also be appropriate served for a baby shower or wedding shower. It is a fun and festive drink to serve at a children's birthday party. The sherbet ice cream melts into the punch and gives a creamy flavor that is offset by the fizzy 7-Up.

Use it as a party punch when you will have at least 6-8 people over and will not be having a heavy meal. Because of the ice cream in this beverage, it is a bit heavier of a drink. Serve with lighter appetizers.

Sherbet Punch Recipe

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Ingredient List:

2 12-ounce lemonade concentrate
5-6 cans of water
1/2 can (46-ounce) pineapple juice (about 23 ounces)
1 cup sugar
1 bottle of 7-Up (1 liter), pre-chilled
1 pint of frozen lime or orange sherbet

Kitchen Equipment Needed

Large Punch Bowl

Instructions:

Step 1: Pre-chill all ingredients.

Step 2: Mix lemonade, water, and pineapple juice, and sugar in a large punch bowl until dissolved.

Step 3: Slowly pour in 1 bottle of 7-Up or other clear carbonated sweet soda.

Step 4: Place scoops of lime or orange sherbet on top of the punch and this sherbet punch recipe is ready to serve. The ice cream will melt in to the soda and also works to keep the drink cold without the use of ice.

Most Refreshing Non-Alcoholic Summer Drinks

by Debbie Strange

As summer rolls in so do the outside events; barbeque patties, picnics, 4th of July festivities, etc. For those people whom don’t drink alcoholic drinks, their choices tend to be soda, punch, ice tea, or water, while those who do drink alcoholic drinks get a large selection of fruity, icy, refreshing looking drinks to choose from. Here’s a little secret; you can serve those same tempting drinks and simply leave out the alcohol; in most places they are called “Virgin drinks” which indicates no alcohol is present in the drink.

I have chosen ten of the best non-alcoholic drinks that are easy to make and always a big hit at any party or gathering.

Watermelon Slushy

Crush ice in a blender until chunky or smooth
• Add unseeded watermelon
• Add sugar or honey
• Blend until it is at the consistency you prefer; either as a smoothie or chunky

For the visual effect, place a small slice of watermelon on the side of the glass.

Kids and adults alike really enjoy this drink because it is colorful and refreshing and very easy to make.

Virgin Screw Driver

Mix together:

• Ginger ale and orange juice
• Add ice and serve with a slice of orange on the side of the glass.
• You can also blend this into a smoothie or chucky drink.

This drink is both visually enticing as well as being refreshing and has nutritional value; kids will be begging for more so make a large batch.

Non-alcoholic Strawberry Daiquiri

In a blender mix

• Strawberries
• Orange juice
• Lime juice
• Sugar

Add ice and blend to the consistency you desire; be it smooth or chucky.
Serve with a dash of whipped cream and a whole strawberry on top.

This is a very colorful and refreshing drink to serve at any summer gathering.

Virgin Cherry Fizzy

Mix or blend together:

• Cherry juice; either fresh or from concentrate
• Ginger ale

Add ice and mix or blend to consistency you desire.
Top with a dash of whipped cream and a fresh cherry.

This drink is sure to be the center of attention as it is brilliantly colorful as well as refreshing.

Fuzzyless Fuzzy Navel

Combine together or blend together:

• Peach nectar or fresh peaches
• Orange juice
• Pineapple juice
• A dash of lemon juice
• A dash of grenadine for taste

Mix together or blend to consistency you desire.
Top with a dash of whipped cream and a fresh wedge of peace.

Not everybody enjoys peaches so if you serve this drink, be sure to have an alternative drink for them to choose from.

Summertime Virgin Sangria

Mix together:
• Red cranberry juice
• Sugar or honey
• Apple juice
• Add ice and mix together or blend to consistency you prefer.
• Top with maraschino cherries

This colorful and refreshing drink is most suited for adults as it can be a bit tangy at times.

Non-alcohol Bloody Mary

Mix together:
• Tomato juice
• Tabasco sauce to suit your taste
• Celery salt to suit your taste
• Worcestershire sauce to suit your taste
• Ground black pepper
• Lemmon juice

Mix together and add to ice or serve cold.
Add a stalk of celery for garnish.

This summer time drink can be served at breakfast, lunch, or dinner but is often most enjoyed by adults because it has a bit of a spicy taste to it.

Orange and Banana Smoothie

Blend together, depending upon how many you are serving:
• One banana per serving
• One cup of orange juice per serving
• Dash of lemon juice
• Crushed ice

Blend until smooth.
Garnish with a dab of whipped cream with a slice of banana and orange on top.

This is a big hit with the kids as it is refreshing, colorful, and nutritious.

Misty Orange Slush

(Serves 8)

• Pour two cups of orange juice into ice cube trays and allow to freeze.
• Once frozen take half the cubes and place them in a blender with two cups of orange juice and a bit of lime juice.
• Pour the contents into a large pitcher and repeat the steps above with the other half of the frozen orange juice cubes.
• Add cold ginger ale to completed mixture and stir well.
• Add a slice of kiwi or a slice of orange as garnish and serve.

This drink is a tropical delight and is sure to be the hit of any party you are hosting; be it with adults and children.

White Sangria

(Serves 8)

• Peel an orange in one long strip, specifically in a spiral.
• Peel a lemon in one long strip, specifically in a spiral
• Fill a pitcher with ice
• Add one 28 ounce bottle of white grape juice
• Add 32 ounces of seltzer to the grape juice
• Add the juice from the lemon and the orange
• Add the spiral peelings from the orange and lemon

Mix well and pour into glasses.
Garnish with a wedge of lime.

This refreshing but often tangy drink is best suited for adults as children will not find it as sweet as other types of summer time drinks.

The more traditional summertime drinks, such as ice tea, lemon aid, soda, etc are always a quick and easy choice, but these specialty frozen, colorful, and enticing summertime drinks are always a delightful bonus when hosting an outdoor event.

Happy Hour: Kiwi Cobbler

By Yumsugar

Last week at the market, I spotted some New Zealand kiwis for a good price. I know they're not local and organic, but they simply looked too plump and verdant to pass up, so I bought a ton. And, when life handed me a bunch of kiwis, what did I do? Make a kiwi cobbler, of course.

I'm a sucker for muddled fruit cocktails, and this one from Boston fine-dining institution Radius is no exception. I love how fresh it tastes with one whole kiwi, torn mint, and a splash of seltzer. Make it in a minute when you read more.

Kiwi Cobbler

Ingredients

10 mint leaves
1 kiwi, peeled and quartered
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2-inch piece of a vanilla bean, split
Ice
1-1/2 ounces silver tequila
1 ounce chilled club soda

Directions

  1. In a cocktail shaker, muddle the mint, kiwi, sugar and vanilla. Add ice and the tequila; shake well. Pour into a highball glass, top with the soda and stir gently.

Healthy Juice Recipe To Boost Your Energy Level

Healthy Juice Recipe To Boost Your Energy Level

Simply put, a fresh-pressed juice is simply a mixture of water and natural plant sugars along with all the inherent vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients. For that reason, juicing is a quick and easy way to give your body tons of your fantastic nourishment and sustained energy without having to eat pounds of fruits and vegetables. As a result, I know you’ll love the juicing recipes I’m about to share with you and I hope you can make them a part of your healthy raw diet .

Fruits and vegetables contain different nutrients in varying amounts but regardless of which ones you decide to use, your body will thank you. The goal, then, is to find the right combinations to elicit the greatest possible taste! After all, for some people, the taste of green vegetable just ins’t their cup of tea.

Tips on Choosing the Right Juicing Ingredients

Fruits & VegetablesHopefully, you understand the importance of organic foods. Thus, whenever possible choose organic fruits and vegetables over conventionally grown produce. That way you avoid all the pesticides and genetically modified foods that wreak havoc on your body. A local farmer’s market is a great place to start.

Fresh vegetables should be firm, colourful, and alive. Fruit should be ripe (but not mushy). For instance, bananas should be fully yellow (not green); apricots should have an orange-yellow hue; kiwis should be uniformly soft but not bruised; and melons and pineapple should have a sweet aroma - just to give you a few examples.

You should clean your fruits and veggies before making any of these juicing recipes so that any dirt, debri, or surface chemicals be removed as best as possible.

Drinking too much cola may result in paralysis

cola soft drink

Excessive cola consumption will give one more than tooth cavities and the risk of diabetes. In an article in the June issue of the International Journal of Clinical Practice, drinking too much cola is said to lead to a disease called hypokalaemia which can manifest as increased muscular weakness.

“We are consuming more soft drinks than ever before and a number of health issues have already been identified including tooth problems, bone demineralisation and the development of metabolic syndrome and diabetes,” says Dr Moses Elisaf from the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Ioannina, Greece. “Evidence is increasing to suggest that excessive cola consumption can also lead to hypokalaemia, in which the blood potassium levels fall, causing an adverse effect
on vital muscle functions.” In the research undertaken by Dr. Elisaf and his colleagues, ‘symptoms can range from mild weakness to profound paralysis.’

In the United States alone, the consumption of soft drinks has already reached the average level of 212 liters per person per year. Worldwide in 2007, cola consumption reached 552 billion liters, or an average of nearly 83 liters per person per year. According to doctors, hypokalaemia can be caused by high levels of glucose, fructose and caffeine, three of the standard ingredients in cola drinks. They urge that cola drinks be included in the doctor’s list of hypokalaemia-causing substances.

Drink to Your Health with Green Tea

If you were to ask people around the world to name activities commonly associated with the English, chances are drinking tea would figure quite highly on the list. And if recent research is anything to go by it might be one activity worth imitating.

Now it is worth pointing out that the tea the English have commonly preferred is black, more often than not taken with milk, and in many instances a spoon or three of sugar. Making sure that the variety of tea you use is strong, serve it in a mug, make the sugar virtually a must and you have yourself the beverage known affectionately as "Builders Tea". A favorite on construction sites the length and breadth of England. And probably much of Scotland, Wales and Ireland too. But tea, as previous data has already confirmed, can be more than just a source of refreshment.

Whilst, in these particular instances it is green tea that is the variety in question, two more stories have emerged of the possible health benefits of a plant which bears the scientific name Camellia Sinensis.

The first story concerns the benefits that green tea might bring to your dental health and in it The Open Press cites a report published in the Journal of Periodontology which details a study carried out on 940 men aged between 49 and 59.

This study found that those men who regularly drank green tea enjoyed a lower incidence of three factors by which periodontal disease is usually measured. Namely gum tissue bleeding, depth of the periodontal pocket and detachment of gum tissue. It is believed that Catechin is the specific antioxidant found in tea that is principally responsible for the better level of periodontal health enjoyed by regular green tea drinkers.

Whilst not mentioned in this particular study, it has also been suggested that bad breath and plaque may be other aspects of dental health that can be alleviated by the consumption of green tea. The Open Press story adds that the study's findings are likely to find support from Dr Farnoosh, a man considered as being near the very top of the dental profession in the USA by organizations such as the Consumer Research Council and the American Academy of Periodontology, and who has spoken before of the dental benefits that can arise from drinking green tea on a regular basis.

According to the Daily Mail a second study carried out by the Feist-Weiller Cancer Centre in Louisiana, and reported in the Cancer Prevention Research journal, has spoken of the potential green tea consumption has to slow the advance of prostate cancer in men. In this instance 26 men, varying in age from 41 to 72 and facing imminent surgery for their condition, were given a daily dose of the supplement Polyphenon E over a period of approximately a month.

Polyphenon E contains the active compounds found in green tea and the daily dose administered to the men in the study equated to them drinking roughly 12 brewed cups of green tea concentrate. In some of the men the prostate specific antigen score, a protein marker used in monitoring the progression of prostate cancer, and the scores of two other biomarkers used for the same purpose, were reduced by more than 30%. What is more any side effects from what might be considered an unusually high intake of tea were minimal.

These latest studies, and those before them, may not necessarily be conclusive but they do provide hope that there are certain foods and drinks we currently consume for mainly enjoyable purposes that can also quite easily provide relatively inexpensive benefits to our health.

Dr. Oz says drink green tea for healthy joints

You may know that glucosamine and chondroitin are great for joint health, and now Dr. Oz recommends green tea for great joints.

Green tea is high in EGCG and ECG, neither of which are found in black tea due to its processing method. These catechins, or flavonoids, are potent antioxidants and have been associated with regulating and inhibiting cancer growth and killing cells that grow inappropriately. This includes battling cartilage and collagen destruction in arthritic joints.

EGCG and ECG have also been associated with fighting inflammation, a contributing cause to both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

So drink your green tea and feel like a kid again.
