How to Make a Lo-Cal Energy Drink

Energy drinks are popular but often expensive. They are formulated to help replenish energy, and they give you electrolytes. However, you can make your own energy drink at home that will do the same thing for you as popular name-brand energy drinks. This article will show you how to make a low-calorie energy drink similar in nutrients to leading name brands.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 cup orange juice (not concentrate) OR 2 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 3 3/4 cups cold water
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • Pitcher
  1. Step 1

Assemble the ingredients. Make sure the water is boiling when you start. You may substitute another flavor of juice instead of the orange juice.

  2. Step 2

Take your pitcher and pour in the boiling water. Add the sugar and salt, and wait until both dissolve.

  3. Step 3

Add the juice and the remaining cold water. Stir until blended. The yield will be 1 quart.

  4. Step 4

Put the pitcher into the fridge and let chill for a few hours.

  5. Step 5

Pour over or blend with ice, and enjoy! Typically, calories per 8-ounce serving are 50, with 12 g. of carbohydrates and 30 mg. of potassium.
